Die Erwartungen sollte man etwas runterschrauben.
Ich hatte Glück und konnte hier eine ergattern - die Vorfreude war groß! 80er Hetfield Gibson-Optik, aber halt günstig(er) von Epiphone und schon ab Werk mit den passenden EMGs. Zurecht geht da grad ein kleiner Hype drum. Sollte eine optische Ergänzung zu meiner 76er Reissue Gibson Explorer (Bj. 2000, auch mit EMG 60/81) und meiner ESP Snakebyte werden. Bin mir aber nicht mehr so sicher, ob diese Epiphone die 999€ wirklich wert ist. Service seitens Zoundhouse einwandfrei, nur DHL war ein bisschen zu langsam, um meiner Vorfreude gerecht zu werden (Samstag bestellt, Freitag erhalten). Erster Eindruck beim Auspacken: Keine Lackfehler (nur ein ganz Winziger), gute Fertigungsqualität - war erstmal bezüglich der hohen Qualität überrascht. Die Knobs für die Potis waren etwas schief und nicht komplett drauf - kann man selber schnell ausgleichen. Das mitgelieferte Gig-Bag ist mir hier sogar lieber als die üblichen sperrigen Explorer-Koffer und ist auch qualitativ gut. Die eher günstigeren Tuner gehen für mich in Ordnung - auf Dauer würde ich jedoch auf Locking Tuner gehen. Octav-Reinheit sollte man selbst noch einstellen, ab Werk nicht optimal - kann man verzeihen - auch Anfänger finden schnell Videos dazu wie's geht. Die Saitenlage ist ok eingestellt, muss man nicht unbedingt ran. Die Bünde sind ab Werk sehr rau bei Bendings - die muss man dringend polieren um wirklich Spaß zu haben. Auch waren meine Finger nach dem ersten spielen erstmal schwarz - vermutlich an den Bünden noch Produktionsrückstände - hab das auch auf die Schnelle nicht sauber bekommen. Kriegt man selber sicher hin, man muss nicht zum Gitarrenbauer. Der Sound ist dank EMGs sowohl clean als auch verzerrt wie erwartet. Evtl. kann man sich selber die Pick-Up-Höhe noch etwas einstellen. Der Hals ist für mich im Vergleich zu meiner Gibson und ESP recht gewöhnungsbedürftig - wirkt im Vergleich etwas klobig und der am Hals verwendete Lack bremst mich spürbar. Vielleicht Gewohnheitssache. Der Neck-Dive ist bei dieser Epiphone Explorer und meiner Gurtlänge leider extrem und richtig nervig im Stehen. Meine alte Gibson Explorer ist da schon sub-optimal, aber bei der Epiphone ist das leider kaum tolerierbar. Ich müsste die vordere Gurtanbringung verändern - ich bevorzuge hinten am Body. Für eine schöne Hetfield-Wand-Deko ("More Beer!" / "Jägermeister") und out of the box ohne Hand an zu legen leider zu teuer mMn. V.a. ist das Spielgefühl grad so ok für diese Gitarre - weiß nicht ob ich oft danach greifen würde.
