Fender Guitars
A synonym for everything that has to do with Rock ’n’ Roll
Today, the FMIC brand family includes Fender®, Squier®, Gretsch®, Jackson®, Charvel®, and EVH®, among others.
With an illustrious history dating back to 1946, Fender has touched and transformed music worldwide and across nearly every genre: rock ’n’ roll, country and western, jazz, rhythm and blues, and many more. Everyone—from beginners and hobbyists to the world’s most famous artists and performers—has used Fender instruments and amplifiers, making the company not only a revered name in the music industry but also a cultural icon. Our vision is to continue spreading THE SPIRIT OF ROCK-N-ROLL® around the globe and to exceed the expectations of music lovers worldwide. Fender is the world’s largest guitar manufacturer.
In 1951, Fender set out to free musicians from the limitations of the double bass. They did so by introducing a brand-new instrument with a bold, new sound. That instrument was the Precision Bass®, a name that would not only become synonymous with rock ’n’ roll but also help define its very essence. Over time, we developed new instruments to serve a new, evolving type of musician: the electric bassist. Each of them has been—and continues to be—a driving force behind the greatest moments in music, in every era and every genre. Period.
Changing music – one Fender guitar at a time
Leo Fender wanted to build an instrument that was as functional as it was easy to use.
It was a primitive-looking yet tough-as-nails object, whose powerful name was inspired by another groundbreaking invention: the television. With its revolutionary electrified tone, it would forever change the way music was made.
When someone asks, “Why Fender electric guitars?”, the answer is clear. Fender guitars were designed to be louder, and the exciting tones they produced are still embedded in our cultural DNA.
The Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is the world’s leading manufacturer of guitars, basses, amplifiers, and related equipment. With a rich history dating back to 1946, Fender has touched and transformed music worldwide and in nearly every genre: rock ’n’ roll, country and western, jazz, rhythm and blues, and many others. Everyone—from beginners and hobbyists to the world’s most renowned artists and performers—has used Fender instruments and amplifiers, and legendary Fender instruments such as the Telecaster® and Stratocaster® guitars as well as the Precision® and Jazz® basses are widely celebrated as design classics. In the 1940s, Southern California inventor Leo Fender realized that he could improve upon the amplified hollow-body instruments of the time with an innovative yet relatively simple solid-body electric guitar design. He also recognized that the process of building these instruments could be streamlined.
