Die 700er-Serie gleicht in Aussehen und Bauart den 1000er-Modellen. Den Unterschied macht das A.R.T.-Tonabnehmersystem. Da es sowohl den Klang der Saiten als auch den des Korpusses berücksichtigt, ist A.R.T. in der Lage, die feinen Soundunterschiede zwischen APX- und CPX-Gitarren exakt wiederzugeben. So kommt auch über Kabel der spezielle Charakter jeder Serie zur Geltung.
Die CPX700 ist auch als 12-saitiges Modell erhältlich.
Der einzigartige Medium-Jumbo-Korpus der CPX begeistert mit modernem Sound aus satten Bässen, präsentem Mitten-Bereich und seidige Höhen. Eine spezielle Deckenbeleistung (Yamahas non-scalloped X-type bracing) sorgt für einen druckvollen und gleichzeitig kontrollierten Ton. So überzeugt die Gitarre unverstärkt mit ihrem vollen, lebendigen Klang und bleibt auch auf der Bühne stets zuverlässig und voll beherrschbar.
